Quail Creek Golf & Country Club is a private golf and country club located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. ==Founding of the Club== The Club is situated on 158 acres with 125 acres devoted to the golf course. The vision of Quail Creek Golf & Country Club was that of the developer, John W. Johnston. Quail Creek was designed and organized to provide the ultimate in club facilities and services. The plans for Quail Creek Golf & Country Club began in 1960 and the golf course and clubhouse design and construction followed in 1961–62.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.quailcreekgcc.com/Default.aspx?p=dynamicmodule&pageid=395255&ssid=317690&vnf=1 )〕 Johnston envisioned turning pasture land into an exclusive residential area and a posh golf country club. Quail Creek came to fruition when a steering committee of businessmen headed by elected Chairman, Boston Smith, met on May 6, 1960. After much research, the committee selected a 158-acre section of farmland which was a familiar landmark to Oklahoma City residents, having been the country home of Virgil Browne, a well known civic leader. The committee agreed that 400 members had to be signed in order to assure that the club could be built and plans began to unfold.〔
